Matt Garber, MCSE, Senior Vice President delivered an insightful presentation at the 2023 ESRI Mid-Atlantic User Conference, shedding light on leveraging ArcGIS technology for effective solutions. Mr. Garber’s presentation focused on practical applications and benefits, showcasing how Falls Township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, successfully utilized ArcGIS technology for their municipal building renovation project.
Falls Township, with a population of 34,000, is undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation of its municipal building to address inadequacies for modern use. The project covers finance, parks and recreation, police, clerks, tax collector, and public works spaces. A shift from a public meeting room to a community room is planned for broader resident and organization use. To facilitate the renovation, Township offices and the police department temporarily relocated, prompting the need for asset inventory. Township Manager Matthew Takita collaborated with Esri Business Partner, Carroll Engineering Corporation, and adopted ArcGIS Indoors, integrating a barcode scanning system for asset management and space planning. The implementation aims for transparency in spending public funds responsibly. Carroll Engineering Corporation is finalizing the ArcGIS Indoors setup, supporting Falls Township’s asset management initiatives, including tracking assets in temporary and new locations. The system also introduces an office hoteling component for public use, allowing residents to reserve offices and incubator spaces. Falls Township’s implementation is possibly the first of its kind in the region for a population of this size.
