October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Carroll Engineering Corporation (CEC) and its employees have once again, joined in the fight! This year, CEC teamed up with Unite for HER, an amazing local non-profit organization empowering women diagnosed with breast cancer, located in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
Their mission is to provide women diagnosed with breast cancer with wellness and alternative therapies to help with the symptoms and side effects of surgery and chemotherapy. They are partners with 22 hospitals in the greater Philadelphia region, and through these hospitals women are able to join Unite for HER and receive these wellness and holistic treatments such as acupuncture, yoga, massages, nutrition classes, and therapy, regardless of their income.
CEC matched employee donations collected during the month of October. Various fundraising events included:
- Jeans for a Cause: Each Friday in October, employees wore jeans and donated $5 each.
- Cash Raffle: Raffle tickets were sold for a 50/50, the total amount raised for the cash raffle was split. 50% went to the winner, 50% went to Unite for HER.
- Gift Basket Raffle: We raffled off a beautiful gift basket that included an assortment of food and treats.
- 76ers Game Tickets: We also raffled off tickets to a 76ers basketball game!
Carroll Engineering chose October 18th as the official company breast cancer awareness day (pink day) where employees wore pink to show their support and enjoyed pinked theme treats throughout the day.
By the end of October, Carroll Engineering, and its employees, raised $1,000.00 for Unite for HER! For more information about Unite for HER, and how you can participate or donate, please visit their website: www.uniteforher.org.
