October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Carroll Engineering Corporation (CEC) and its employees have once again, joined in the fight against this disease.
One in eight women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. In 2018, an estimated 266,120 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 63,960 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer. About 2,550 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men in 2018 (statistics from Breastcancer.org).Early screening and better treatment are essential in treating and beating this disease. The more funding received, the quicker the cure for this disease can be found.
CEC matched employee donations collected during the month of October and chose October 19th as the official company breast cancer awareness day where employees wore pink to show their support. CEC raised over $1,000 and the money will be sent to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
