Carroll Engineering Corporation (CEC) proudly announces the successful completion of the Chamounix Road Bridge Culvert Replacement project in Radnor Township. This pivotal infrastructure upgrade was not just an achievement but also a significant community improvement, managed by
Justin M. Coyle, P.E., SVP and Manager of our Structural Engineering Department in Easton, PA, alongside his adept team members JoAnna Ast, E.I.T., and Michael Traczuk, P.E.
The project featured a cross-disciplinary collaboration among CEC’s finest. Peter O’Halloran, P.E., PTOE, Head of our Traffic and Transportation Department, along with his skilled team;, brought their specialized expertise to the forefront. Additionally, Christopher Peterson, P.E., a municipal engineer and Vincent Capaldi from our Municipal Department, together with Gary Zanolini, VP, Head of our Survey Department, played critical roles in ensuring the project’s success.
The core of this project was the replacement of an outdated double-barrel stone masonry culvert with a with a modern precast concrete structure, designed to endure and optimize water flow through a tributary to Gulph Creek. By removing the need for center supports, the new 20-foot clear span culvert not only boosts the hydraulic efficiency but also minimizes the ecological footprint on the surrounding parkland and stream.
Funded entirely by Township resources, this project stands as a model of fiscal responsibility and engineering excellence, reinforcing cec’s dedication to serving community needs through reinforcing CEC’s community needs through sustainable infrastructure development.
Aesthetically designed to complement the natural beauty of Fenimore Park, the project features colored, stone form-liners and context-sensitive design, ensuring that it blends naturally with the park environment.
Beyond infrastructure, the project has significantly benefited the community by enhancing the safety and reliability of Chamounix Road, crucial for local accessibility and emergency responses. It also fosters a safer and more enjoyable park experience, contributing to the wellbeing and quality of life for Radnor Township’s residents and visitors alike.
This project underscores CEC’s commitment to delivering cost-effective and efficient engineering solutions that prioritize community well-being and environmental integrity.
