Vice President Joel Ardman proudly announced that Sophie McGrady of Doylestown, PA has been awarded the Carroll Engineering Corporation 2019 Scholarship.
Sophie is a graduate of Central Bucks East High School and received a $1,000 tuition grant administered through the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce. The grant is awarded annually to a local graduate who intends to study in the field of engineering at the post-secondary level. Sophie will be attending Carnegie-Mellon University where she plans to study Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Katrina Konnick, Sophie’s AP Calculus teacher said, “Sophie is intelligent, motivated, and hardworking. She not only worked hard to earn good grades, but more importantly she strived to understand concepts and make new connections”. Ms. Konnick also added, “Between her positive attitude, drive to succeed, and inviting personality, Sophie has been one of the most memorable students I have encountered in my teaching career”.
During her time at Central Bucks East High School, Sophie was involved with the marching band and in 2018 was the music captain. She was also the club advisor for the Culture Shock Club. The club’s goal is to examine various cultures and social aspects of the global society. Sophie was also a two year member of the school’s National Honor Society.
