In our Summer 2016 Issue of Site-Lines, Carroll Engineering spotlighted the groundbreaking ceremony for The Willows at Flemington Junction, a new 84-unit affordable rental community located on Junction Road in Raritan Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The new community offers handicap accessible and adaptable units, walking trails, playgrounds, and a community garden. Carroll Engineering designed the site that includes two detention basins, entrance drive with median, and 3,250 feet of gravity sanitary sewer extension. Challenges included minimizing disturbance to a Jersey Central Power & Light easement and environmentally sensitive areas.
The community developer is Ingerman Development Company of Collingswood. Tom Fik, P.E., C.M.E., LEED AP, the New Jersey Project Engineer and Manager of Carroll Engineering’s Hillsborough office, has been actively monitoring construction progress. Carroll Engineering has been working diligently with Ingerman to ensure the buildings receive their certificates of occupancy. Recently, construction activity has picked up to complete site improvements and buildings for occupancy. We look forward to working with Ingerman and local agencies in the next few months to bring the project into final compliance.
